Karmakaze Designs is a site dedicated to creating and providing resources for web and graphic design, ranging from wallpapers for your desktop to a full-fledged commercial site for your business customized to your preferences. Here you can also find free resources in order to give you a head-start in creating your own graphics, premade and distributed for public use. Of course, the site wasn't always as you see it.
Karmakaze Designs started out as nothing more than a sheet of notebook paper and random scribbles of brainstorming on the back of my high school history notes. It stayed this way for many months as I had no idea how I was going possibly come up with a way to make an entire site. I studied other sites and idly wondered how designers came up with such beautifully designed layouts. I wanted to have the most impressive of them all. So, I practiced for many months in order to enhance the very little I already knew about HTML, thus began Karmakaze Designs' journey nearly five years ago.
It took two years to get anywhere with my idea for a resource site. I was beginning to understand what it took to make a successful site and decided to get my own domain, space, and service to get it running full tilt. Finally, something worked. More than 1,000 visitors came to the site within a week. I was stunned and felt gratified by the sudden success the site had. Since then, I've been trying new things to improve my skill and improve the site as a whole. After entering college, I realized what real passion I had for web design and decided I wanted a degree in it. After about a year of exploring that avenue, I decided to try something different with the site: a compilation of all that I can offer, including free resources and paid services, complete with a portfolio and interactivity. Viola!
As I was coming up for a new name for my site, I decided I wanted a play on words."Karma", meaning retribution for one's actions, was a word that I combined with the root of "kamikaze", which can be associated with explosive and reckless. So the themed bias behind my designs and the site became to be "explosive creativity", as I do believe my design style is rather abstract, yet contained all at once.
The domain name was purchased at Netrillum.com in 2006. This site has been online since September of 2005 and is currently hosted at Dreamhost.com.
